I see people bitching on forums about launches but I personally don’t thing they’ve lost their effectiveness. In fact, I think they’ve gotten even more powerful… especially when you use the “mini-launch” Jeff talks about in this video:

I was sitting in the Vegas airport last week, messing with my iPhone…
And I started thinking back to June of 07 and the madness surrounding the iPhone release.
Remember that?
What an amazing sight. Hundreds of people lined up for hours outside Apple stores nationwide, waiting to plunk down $500 for a phone.
A phone.
Of course, this was no ORDINARY phone. This was the iPhone, baby. The biggest thing to come down the electronics gadget pike since… well… the iPod.
And people just HAD to have it–right freakin’ now.
Present company included.
Yep, I admit it–I bought into the frenzy just like everyone else (didn’t have ANYTHING to do with Filsaime, Walker and Kern all saying they were getting one too, I SWEAR) and jumped in with both feet.
Well, that was almost a year and a half ago, and I must say, I’ve been very pleased with my purchase.
But as I was remembering all this, something struck me…
Has there been an “iPhone” for the IM world?

Ask anyone around the world and it’s quite clear:
Night before last the world, together, was given a renewed sense of hope.
It doesn’t matter where you’re from, what you believe in, who you voted for as an American. Some moments bring the world together and that was one of them.
I personally don’t agree with all of Obama’s policies, but I agree with the message he gave the world in his acceptance speech: peace, liberty, and hope for the future …
Those are ideas we can *all* get behind.
What really makes me hopeful is that I live in a time where great information from true visionaries can make its way to so many people - all through the power of technology.

After one of the most publicized election season in the history of US and the world, Democratic frontrunner Senator Barack Obama was elected as the 44th President of the United States of America after getting 349 electoral votes against the 162 electoral votes Republican nominee Senator John McCain received.
Forty-seven-year old Obama is the first African American to win presidency in US history. In his first speech as president-elect delivered before a crowd of 125,000 people at Grant Park in Chicago, Obama said that change has come to America, ““If there is anyone out there who doubts that America is a place where anything is possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer,” he said.
On the other hand, McCain accepted his defeat and even called Obama to congratulate him as mentioned by Obama during his address with his supporters in Arizona. “The American people have spoken, and they have spoken clearly,” he said in his speech. McCain also called for unity and expressed support for Obama “We both recognize that though we have come a long way from the old injustices that once stained our nation’s reputation and denied some Americans the full blessings of American citizenship, the memory of them still have the power to wound…Let there be no reason for any American to fail to cherish their citizenship in this, the greatest nation on Earth,” McCain said.
Considered as the factors for Obama’s victory where his wins in Florida, a controversial and sought after state in recent elections; Ohio, where incumbent President George W. Bush won twice; Colorado, home of the religious right and Virginia, ending the 40 years streak of Republican victories.
